Two years without Bobby
Two years without Bobby
Today marks two years without Bobby. How can time have marched on so quickly? And yet the Big Man remains bright in our thoughts and memories, and I have no doubt he always will.
He is so often a topic of conversation, an anecdote, a shared story. He was the master storyteller, and we have all taken a little of that skill into our own lives. Ironic that his son, Andrew, ended up in PR, telling stories for a living; or maybe it was inevitable.
The spark that is Bobby can often bring smiles and recognition, or sadness and the odd tear. But his memory, just as when he was here with us, inevitably drives the conversation. He drove us all potty – in a good way – but all our lives are richer for knowing and loving him.
And sometimes we remember how much fun he was and reflect on things that would have made him laugh. Like Bobby the Silverback, spotted by Bobby’s granddaughters, Giselle and Daisy-Mae, at London Zoo. Another gentle giant.
As for me, I’m settled here by the sea, loved by my family and ignored by the cats. It’s a lovely life. I miss Bobby, but I was lucky to know him and I’m comforted to know that he went out on a high.
So enjoy a cup of rhubarb tea in his honour and share your favourite Bobby stories. Next time I’ll tell you mine, which involves the Big Man, his van and six dustbins of horse manure!
Love you always, Bobby.
Thank you for the message
Love to Bertie and the big man. I met him on the gentle author blogging course where he began.

I met Bobby at Al Anon meetings, he was an incredible man. I lost contact recently and was so sad to hear of his passing on here.
I just found his card and thought i must get in touch.
Sincere condolences to your family
Have fun up there Bobby

Thanks Faye- Bobby always talked fondly of his time and friends at Al-Anon. It was an honour for me to help him with his blog.
