Tick Tock.
TICK TOCK…
tick tock… tick tock… tick tock, tick tock, tick tock, tick tock.
Dear Friends of Bertie…
now and again, when the opportunity arises, we like to look at more serious, even difficult, subjects. Alcoholism and the part Al-Anon Family Groups play in helping those affected by the drinking of others is one important story.
Another is mental illness and Bobby’s own struggle at times with GAD (Generalised Anxiety Disorder).
As you may have seen in past blogs, GAD sufferers can do a lot to help themselves. But then, we all are subject to the pressures of life that leave us vulnerable to mental instability. Bobby’s friend Rob sent him this article that had appeared recently in the Arizona Daily Star. (His daughter lives there). The article really resonated with us and we decided to incorporate it in a blog called “Tick Tock”. So set your clock ticking and we will begin.
I hope that clock is still tick tocking. We can all embrace this philosophy. Slow down. Think how we can all use those precious seconds in a more sustainable way. This blog is being written on an iPad, with a phone and computer to match. They are all fantastic assets to modern life. Particularly the camera, for recording for us all to share how you can spend more time in those seconds you have until you shuffle off this mortal coil. What follows is off the cuff ideas when we switched it all off. After the pictures are taken. Yours could well be completely different.
Tick tock. Play a love song. True Love Ways. Buddy Holly.
And best of all, this movie. Taken by Bobby”s granddaughter, Jasmine, with Big Jay and great grandson Little Jay. Make sure you listen to the little boy’s commentary on a tiny bit of life on a busy beach.

Tick tock. The full poem extracted on the seat. W H Davies:
What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.
No time to turn at Beauty’s glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
